Family Day Suggestions
Posted Saturday, March 20, 2010 02:27 PM

Hi everyone,

There have been some ideas / suggestions around family day the Sunday after the reunion. I am willing to help organize since I am local (San Mateo). Would like some help & suggestions.

I thought something low key might be best. My sister's class ('89) just rented out picnic space at local park and everyone did BYOF (bring your own food). We could do something similar. One other inexpensive idea is Happy Hollow. They just reopened, and group admission price is $8/person. We can also rent a picnic space and do a BYOF picnic and then let all kids run around. If we do this option, I think we need to have folks RSVP and collect $$ up front via Paypal because you have to buy tickets in advance.

If we just do a park, much less organization needed -- we just show up. So I would lean toward that option.

If you have any other ideas or want to help, please let me know.

Best,
Jen Melwani (aka Jennie Moody)

Great ideas, Jen!

My husband and I probably won't attend any family functions that weekend because our son will likely be staying with relatives in Sacramento while we're at the reunion.

Hi Jennie,

I was thinking that a casual "bring your own food" event at a park would be great!  I know that the class of 91 had an event like that at Rainbow Park right across from Lynbrook a day after their 15th reunion.  I actually ran into them at the park since my daugther's school was also having an event there that day.

Rainbow Park has some nice BBQ/picnic areas as well as some nice playground equipment now.  I'll email you separately to see if we can get something organized.

If anyone else is interested in attending, let us know!

Looking forward to catching up soon,

sabrina

A picnic the next day sounds like a great idea! Unfortunately my husband and I are not able to attend the reunion, but it would be great to see folks.

I can attend the family park day, and live across the street from Murdock Park. I could go out there early in the morning to reserve the tables if we need it. Let me know, Tobi. 408-799-9139.

We have decided on a plan for a Sunday Picnic (kids are welcome, but come with or without them! :-)

Murdock Park, Wunderlich Dr @ Castleglen Ave, San Jose, 95129

Sunday, July 18 at around 11:00 am.

Bring your own picnic lunch.

We cannot reserve a space in advance, so Tobi will go a little early and try to save some tables.  If you can arrive by 11am and help her out, that would be great.

Hope to see everyone on either Saturday or Sunday or both!
